Video Poker is a favored game that usually will be gambled on in casinos across the globe, or alternatively at home on your computer, through an Internet account. The rules are very simple and consist of the player trying to achieve the highest assemblage of cards possible in order to acquire cash. In this respect it’s very similar as a normal game of poker, minus the interaction with other players. Of course, techniques used in a physical game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless here.

The game of Video Poker begins when the enthusiast puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the machine and presses the draw button. A five card hand will then be electronically ‘given out’ on the screen.

The Electronic Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and players will need to now decide which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the enthusiast wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.

After the player has selected which cards she would like to keep, the player will then press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards are needed they will be handed out. The hand is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the payout schedule.

Generally, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the pay out schedule can vary from game to game, so that knowledgeable bettors are able to pick the most profitable ones each instance.

As soon as the initial round has completed, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that has been won. Further, some styles of the game allow the bettor a chance to increase their profits, in which instance a further game is played. There are also differences between individual games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other varying characteristics to increase playability.
