Electronic Poker is a favored game that usually will be gambled on in casinos all over the globe, or in your house on your computer, through a web account. The game rules are very straightforward and involve the player attempting to achieve the best combination of cards achievable in order to acquire money. In this respect it is much the same as a classic game of poker, minus the involvement with competing players. Of course, methods used in a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be useless in Video Poker.

The game of Video Poker begins when the gambler puts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the play button. A hand of five cards will be "handed out" on the screen.

The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and gamblers should now pick which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the enthusiast would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.

After the bettor has selected which cards he or she wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any fresh cards will be needed they will be handed out. The game is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the payment schedule.

Typically, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the pay out schedule can vary from game to game, so that skillful bettors are agile enough to select the most money-making game each time.

As soon as the initial round has played out, the player can either choose to remain on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that has been won. Further, several styles of the game allow the enthusiast an opportunity to double their wins, in which case another hand is played. There are also differences between specific games, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other varying elements to increase playability.
